Mediation is an out-of-court and future-oriented process for the constructive settlement of a conflict, in which the parties seek solutions in a self-determined and autonomous manner. The mediator structures and accompanies this process, which is based on voluntariness. He does not represent any party and does not make any decisions, but he pays attention to an optimal balance of the different needs and interests. A successful mediation is usually concluded with an agreement, which leads to a lasting settlement of the conflict and thus to sustainable relationships in the future.
